The famous Wild Flower Show which takes place in Clanwilliam annually during the winter months is canceled due to the severe drought that has engulfed the region.

Annually, more than 400 different species are displayed, but this year, flowers are rare due to the worst drought in 64 years.

The Namaqualand region, known for its lush flower scene and succulent beauty, was plagued by the same drought. Few succulent plants have begun to flourish, and other species will only be visible again next year.

The flowering season is significant for the region due to the influx of tourists in the winter months. Businesses and especially the hospitality industry experience a difficult time this year due to the decline of visitors.
