An intelligence driven operation by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team from both Northern Cape and Free State, SAPS Crime Intelligence, Local Criminal Record Centre, Phuthaditjhaba Tactical Response Team, De Aar Public Order Policing and Colesberg Highway Patrol recovered all firearms that were stolen at Petrusville police station in the Northern Cape on 06 November 2023

The team followed up on information and pounced on identified suspects near R70 road between Senekal and Rosendal. They arrested two males and recovered a R5 rifle with 27 rounds.

Further investigation led the team to Marquard where one more arrest was effected and two shotguns and a Z88 pistol recovered.

The recovery forms part of an arsernal that were stolen from Petrusville Police Station. This is after unknown suspects stole one R5 rifle, two shotguns and one Z88 pistol. The theft was discovered by the incoming shift whilst compiling the handing over report.

Internal investigations are underway to determine circumstances that led to the negligence.

Suspects will appear at different Magistrate courts in Senekal, Petrusville and Marquand on Monday 13 November 2023, on charges of theft and possession of firearms.
