Early morning Festive Season duties by Frances Baard Cluster Group B members led by Col Musa Njilo and Col Mashay Gamieldien led to illegal shebeens being closed down in Ritchie in Modderrivier and large amounts of alcohol being seized, fines issued amount to R3000-00 and homemade brew being destroyed.

In an effort to tighten the grip on illegal alcohol sales and consumption, the Frances Baard Cluster Group focused on visiting illegal shebeens in the area.

In addition to closing down shebeens, the group in conjunction with Modderrivier SAPS and Kimberley Explosives unit visited tuck shops in the area to conduct inspections on illegal sales of crackers.

Numerous fines were issued and cash was confiscated believed to be the proceeds of the sale of alcohol.

According to the Frances Baard District Commissioner, Maj Gen Johan Bean stated that similar disruptive actions will continue in the greater Frances Baard area for the duration of the festive season period. He also commended the members for their relentless efforts in fighting crime during this difficult time as we are facing the second wave of Covid-19.
