Eleven suspects aged between 23 and 52 are facing the wrath of the law following their arrest on the afternoon of 28 August 2017.

The suspects are charged with fraud, after they attempted to apply for financial loans at a financial service provider in Postmasburg.

The suspects approached the financial service provider with the intention to apply for financial loans using fraudulent documentations. However, while the consultant at the financial service provider was busy processing the loan applications, observed that the documents provided by the applicants were not authentic and alerted the police.

During the arrest, police confiscated three vehicles including, fraudulent Identity Documents, bank statements, payslips and proof of residence documentation which were intended to be used fraudulently to obtain financial loans.

Our preliminary investigation indicates that the very same fraudulent documents were previously used to obtain financial loans, amounting to thousands of rand.

The suspects will appear before the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

Investigation continues.
