Galeshewe Regional court has sentenced 34 year old Maria Maditlhare Tlailane to five years direct imprisonment on Wednesday 23 January 2020, for housebreaking and theft at the DPCI offices in Kimberley.

In July 2016, Tlailane and an accomplice gained entry into the Hawks’ offices after they gave a security guard a drink laced with an unknown poisonous substance.

The pair then entered the building and forced open the safes using grinders. Cash and other valuables valued at R183 000-00 was stolen. Tlailane was apprehended in December 2016 following an investigation.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General Kholekile Galawe has applauded the team for their sterling work as well as their dedication and commitment throughout the case.
