The Northern Cape SAPS welcomes the life sentence that was handed down to 26 year old rapist in Petrusville. Andile Jantjies (26) was sentenced in the De Aar Regional Court on the 25 June 2019. On 15 May 2015 at about 23:00 the disabled female (29) victim was pushed home in her wheelchair from a tavern by the male accused, who is known to her. Jantjies took the victim to his house in Petrusville, under false intentions of fetching something he needed.

He forcefully lifted the victim out of her wheelchair, assaulted and raped her. The victim reported the incident to the police and the suspect was arrested the following day. Jantjies was linked after forensic investigations and sentenced for the criminal offence.

We trust that this sentencing will send out a stern warning to all perpetrators.
