On Monday, 20 March 2023 a Vehicle Check Point was conducted on the Louisvaleweg road in Upington when a VW Polo past through with one occupant.

The vehicle was searched and members found mandrax tablets in the vehicle with an estimated value of R101 200-00 stashed in the vehicle.

The 43-year-old driver was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs and will be appearing in court soon.

As duties continued, additional information was received about a vehicle allegedly transporting drugs to Upington.

A follow up was done by the members on these allegations and dagga with the value of R214 450-00 was found abandoned few kilometres out of town, however there was no arrest.

The police will continue to vigorously clamp down on drug trafficking in the Northern Cape.
