As part of the Safer Festive Season operations and COVID-19 crime prevention duties, Group B which is a combined group consisting of police units and provincial components performing crime prevention duties demolished a plantation of dagga plants at 12:00 on 3 December 2021.

Police members acted on information received and pounced on the dagga site where they removed numerous dagga plants in the Kenilworth Cemetery in Kimberley. No arrests were made as there was no owners.

This disruptive action dealt dagga dealers a hard blow.

The Frances Baard District Commissioner, Maj Gen Johan Bean issued a stern warning to residents that the police adopted a zero tolerance approach when it comes to crime during this period. He also indicated that compliance to the alert level 3 Regulations of the Disaster Management Act, will be vigorously enforced.
