The Northern Cape Organised Crime Unit members confiscated drugs in Kuruman during a drug raiding operation. The confiscation came as a result of intelligence information regarding drug related activities observed at certain residential addresses in Damrose near Kuruman and in Donaven and Chapman Streets in Kuruman.

A 53 year old woman, residing in Damrose near Kuruman was arrested on 29 July 2019 after it was established that there was ongoing drug related activities on her premises. Upon a search at her house, 252 stoppe dagga weighing 1,32 Kg with an estimated street value of R3450 was found.

Another suspect aged 33, was arrested in Chapman Street, Kuruman after he was found possession of a crystal meth and a substantial amount of cash. His arrest was executed on 30 July 2019, at about 09:00. During a body search he was found in possession of 4,1gram of crystal meth.

In Donaven Street, crystal meth weighing 4,9 grams was found inside a rubbish bin and no suspect could be linked to it. Nevertheless police investigation is ongoing.

Both suspects are facing counts of dealing in drugs and dagga. They are expected to appear before the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on 31 July 2019.

The John Taolo Gaetsewe Cluster Commander, Major General Johan Bean applauded community members for their undying crime fighting partnership, by displaying high level of zero tolerance against crime.
