Police in Northern Cape embarked on Crime Prevention duties over the weekend of 6 October 2019, to curb crimes in their policing clusters. In Calvinia, Namakwa Cluster members held vehicle check point in Hoop Street. Four taxis were stopped and searched and a black suitcase filled with dagga with an estimated street value of R9000-00, was found in one of the taxis.

A 28 year old suspect was arrested subsequent to the discovery of dagga in the taxi. He was charged with possession of dagga

In Colesberg, a search and seizure warrant was issued against three identified houses in Colesberg and Kuyasa, where criminal activities were suspected to be taking place. A man in his 30’s was arrested for contravention of section 4 & 5 of the drugs and drug trafficking Act 140 of 1992.

He was arrested and charged for possession and dealing in drugs, after Crystal Meth and Mandrax tablets worth an estimated street value of R158 000-00 and cash believed to be generated through dealing in drugs was found in his possession.

And a 44 year old man is expected to appear before the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court, on a charge of attempted murder. It is alleged that the suspect had an argument with his partner and stabbed her with a sword in the throat.

The suspects are expected to appear before their respective courts in Northern Cape.
