Partnership policing at its best ensured that two alleged armed robbers are caught and put safely behind bars. On Tuesday 5 July 2022, the two male suspects attempted to rob an employee of a petrol station who was trying to deposit some money at an ATM, outside a bank in the Jan Kempdorp CBD.
The suspects threatened the victim with a revolver and a knife and demanded the bag of money.
Community members witnessed the incident and started to chase after the robbers who fired two gunshots in retaliation. The citizens apprehended the suspects and contacted the police for assistance in detaining the suspects.
Police also confiscated the firearm and knife while charging the suspect with armed robbery.
