On Friday, 20 March 2020 at about 04:30 members of Kuruman POPS arrested 27 men between the ages of 19 and 32 years old for the Contravention of the National road Traffic Act in Hotazel on the R31 road.

It is reported that all suspects were preventing the free flow of traffic by blocking the road with the trucks. The keys of trucks were forcefully taken away from the truck drivers.

The reason for closing the road is to meet with various mine CEO’s to discuss the issue of employment. It is further alleged that the suspects were also burning tyres.

The two vehicles Inyathi Combi and a BMW vehicles that was used in the commission of crime were impounded.

All suspects will appear before the Kuruman Magistrate court on Monday, 23 March 2020
