The already bankrupt Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation will pay a company R600 million to handle a massive water project.

This despite the fact that another company was willing to do it for R278 million.

Documents show that Pro Plan Consulting Engineers will do the design and supervision of a Phase 2 project in the Northern Cape at R600 million.

Now Blackhead Consulting has taken the department to court to set aside the contract. Tthe Engineering Profession Act and the Engineering Council of SA, allows companies to charge only 4% of total project costs while Pro Plan is charging 7.5%.

The website of Pro Plan Consulting Engineers does not reveal who their directors are.
