Police in Britstown have arrested two male suspects aged 31 and 36 in connection with possession of suspected stolen goods. On Thursday night, 23 August 2018, Constables Meyer, Jansen, Francis and De Brain received information from MTN about theft of cell phone tower batteries.

The information was operationalised and patrols were immediately conducted along the N10 Road where the tower is located. A suspicious Nissan NP300 bakkie was noticed on the N10.

Police tried to pull the bakkie over but it sped off. Police gave chase and the driver stopped next to a filling station. A man from the passenger seat ran into the bushes. The bakkie was searched and 12 cell phone tower batteries were found. The driver and another man were then arrested.

The suspects will be appearing before the Britstown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 August 2018.

Police investigation continues.
