Two suspects were arrested on 1 February 2021 for attempted armed robbery and the third suspect for possession of illegal firearm and ammunition.

It is alleged that, Vispol and Detectives members in Olifantshoek operationalised information received about two suspects who were wanted for an alleged foiled armed robbery that took place on 29 January 2021. The suspects shot the victim on the leg before the fled. Both suspects aged 27 and 34 were arrested for attempted robbery.

Upon further investigations, it was discovered that the firearm used to commit the crime was sold. The man who bought the firearm was also arrested for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. All three suspects are expected to appear before court soon.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Henriette De Waal commended the members for their swift reaction that ensures that illegal firearms are reduced from the streets.
