Four male suspects were apprehended by quick thinking and lightning fast reaction of members from the Kimberley SAPS A Relief, Flying Squad and K9 unit. On Sunday, 17 February 2019 at about 10am the police were alerted of male suspects in a silver grey Toyota Yaris that robbed a well known hotel in Kimberley.

It is alleged that the owner cashed up the takings and while busy leaving the premises he was approached by the suspects armed with firearms.

The suspects grabbed the black tog bag from the owner and fled with a substantial amount of cash. Police chased after the vehicle and managed stop and search it in Cecil Sussman Road in the Kimberley CBD.

Police retrieved the money and also confiscated two firearms and the silver grey Toyota Yaris.

“The Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lt Gen Risimati Shivuri commended the SAPS members for their fast and professional response and also thanked the community for assisting the police in this regard. Together we can squeeze the space for criminals and their unsavoury activities and ensure that our communities are and feel safe.”

The four male suspects are from Soshanguve in the Gauteng Province and Kuruman in the Northern Cape. Anyone with information can call D/WO Patrick Dibebe from SAPS Trio crimes as the police are looking at possibly linking the suspects with three other armed robberies in the Northern Cape. The suspects should be appearing in Court soon. The investigation continues.
