On Thursday, 26 October 2023 members from the Hartswater K9 were busy with patrols when E2 cameras spotted the alleged stolen VW Polo on the N18 road near Hartswater.
Police were informed and and stopped and searched the vehicle. The SAPS Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit confirmed that the vehicle was recently stolen and cloned in Pretoria before it was allegedly sold to the current owner.
The vehicle was confiscated and no arrests were effected as yet however the investigation continues.
The Frances Baard District Commissioner, Maj Gen Johan Bean commended the SAPS and the E2 camera systems for a job well done and reiterated the importance of partnership policing.
