The Kuruman Regional Court convicted Lin Zhuang (30) for possession and transportation of abalone on Monday, 26 September 2022.
Lin Zhuang was arrested in December 2021 by the Kuruman Public Order Policing members during a festive season operation along the N14 highway.
The Hawks’ Kuruman based Serious Organised Crime Investigation took over the investigation working in conjunction with the Department of Fisheries and Forestry in Port Nolloth and Cape Town.
The accused was fined an amount of R40 000 or two years imprisonment of which half of the sentence is suspended for a period of five years.
