Members of Springbok Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit, assisted by the Upington Unit arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of 15 cattle. The arrest was made possible by information supplied and successfully followed up.

The cattle were reportedly stolen in the Onseepkans area after four cases of stock were opened at Onseepkans.

The cattle were reportedly transported to Upington. The suspects were arrested red handed on 25 June 2020, in Upington while collecting money for the stolen livestock.

Some of the cattle owners were not even aware that their livestock have been stolen and recovered. The stolen cattle have been positively identified by their owners.

Captain Du Toit, commander of Springbok Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit has applauded members involved who successfully connected the dots after the theft of cattle in the Onseepkans area. Captain Karel Du Toit further thanked members of the community for their continued assistance in the fight against stock theft.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Pofadder Magistrates Court on Monday, 29 June 2020.
