The Provincial Management in Northern Cape SAPS has welcomed sentence handed down in case of rape.
Neil Muller (28) was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape, three years for robbery with aggravating circumstances and another three years for kidnapping.
On 18 July 2016, the 27 year old victim was going to a tuck shop in Collville when Muller asked her for directions. While giving directions, Muller threatened her with a knife and took her to field in Floriaville and raped her.
The victim was further taken to Roodepan and was only released the following day by the suspect.
Muller was since arrested and was found guilty on three counts of rape, robbery with aggravating circumstances and kidnapping.
All three sentences will run concurrently.
The Provincial Commissioner of Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri has commended the FCS unit for their dedication and hard work in ensuring that perpetrators do time for their crimes, especially those committed against women and children.
