The Provincial Head for FCS Unit in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Nicky Mills welcomed the 10 years imprisonment sentence handed down to Donald Jacob (20) by Galeshewe Regional Court for raping an 18 year old mentally challenged female.

On 27 March 2017, Jacob lured the victim and her friend with under the pretence that he is going to buy them sweets at a local tuck shop. On the way he, dragged the victim to a shack where she was raped.

He was arrested and made several court appearances before he was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment earlier this month.

The Unit Commander of Galeshewe FCS Unit, Lieutenant Colonel Marli Strydom, commended the Investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Conrad de Jongh for the thorough investigation which secured the conviction.
