Police in Itsoseng are investigating separate cases of murder and culpable homicide after a woman was found dead at her place while her husband was allegedly hit and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday, 22 April 2020.

In the first incident, police were summoned at about 16:00 to a scene of culpable homicide, close to Thusong Hospital on the Lichtenburg – Mahikeng road where a 48-year-old male was found dead on the scene after he allegedly jumped in front of an oncoming truck. He was certified dead on the scene by Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel.

About an hour later, a family member who found a 28-year-old woman lying dead on the floor, called the police to a house at Zone 3, Itsoseng. The woman who is the wife to the 48-year-old male, was found tied up with cloths around her neck and feet.

It is suspected that she was strangled. As a result, Emergency Medical and Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel declared the woman dead on the scene. Investigation into both cases continue.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed his shock about the incidents and made an appeal to members of the community to not resort to violence, but to seek professional help in an attempt to resolve their conflicts in a peaceful manner.
