
An unidentified woman, believed to be in her 30s, was allegedly mauled to death by dogs in the early hours of Friday morning on Magaretha Prinsloo Street, Klerksdorp.
The incident was reported to authorities on Friday, 5 June 2026, at approximately 05:45. A man from a nearby residence discovered the woman’s body while on his way to work and immediately alerted the police. Emergency and Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased sustained multiple wounds across her body consistent with dog bites. Authorities have not yet officially identified the victim, and the exact circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear as no eyewitnesses have come forward.
In connection with the incident, eight dogs found at a nearby residence were removed from the premises by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The animals were taken into SPCA custody and subsequently euthanized.
Police have registered an inquest docket, and investigations into the matter are ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the identity of the deceased to come forward.
