A task force has been put together to investigate the brutal rape and murder of a woman in Orkney in the North West. The 78 year old woman stayed alone in her home and according to Warrant officer Elize Kruger, a police spokesperson, was very security aware.
The woman was last seen by family and friends on Saturday 17 March 2018, at about 9:00. When family was unable to contact her they requested that the neighbours investigate.
The woman was found in her shower on Monday 19 March at about 13:00, her hands had been tied with shoelaces and she had been strangled. The house was ransacked.
A case of rape, robbery and murder is being investigated. as yet there have been no arrests.
