Two suspects attack an elderly man with axe on his farm
Elderly farmer shot and wounded

On Friday, July 21, at around 02H30, two suspects attacked an elderly man on his farm near the R511 in the De Wildt area, North West.

Albert Louw (60) was still awake after an attempted burglary at his home an hour before when he heard the glass of a window shatter.

The suspects armed with an axe stormed into the room and hit Albert over the head with the axe. Fortunately, Albert managed to escape and raised the alarm.

The police and community security swiftly responded to the incident. Albert was transferred to George Mokhari hospital for medical treatment.

By the time the police arrived, the suspects fled the scene and there is no report of stolen items at this stage.

The police are investigating the incident.
