A 26-year-old and 35-year-old suspect are expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 January 2024, on charges of unlawful possession of firearm, possession of suspected stolen property and murder.

The suspect’s court appearance emanated from an incident that occurred on Wednesday night, 10 January 2024, at Bokfontein outside Brits where a 21-year-old woman was assaulted and threatened by three armed suspects who gained entry into the house. The invaders took some valuable items and fled the scene on foot with her cell phone. She alerted the neighbours who went to check where the suspects got entry into the yard. In the process, the neighbours allegedly saw an unknown male in his thirties lying on the ground and bleeding. The male who was wearing a black hoodie top, blue track pants and maroon pair of All Star tekkies, was declared dead on the scene. It was also established that the “stop nonsense” wall fell on the ground where the suspects allegedly got entry, was one of the three suspects. Thus, a house robbery case was opened.

Subsequently, a crime intelligence led operation was conducted on Friday, 12 January 2024, at Kapitana, Skeerpoort where the first suspect was found and a .22 special revolver with 5x empty cartridges, a 9 mm blank pistol with two cartridges and an orange wolf chain zigsaw were seized. The operation proceeded to Bokfontein, Carradale whereby another suspect allegedly involved in the house robbery was also arrested.

Both suspects were arrested and the investigation into the matter continues.
