Two murder suspects appear in court, NW

On Tuesday, 3 April 2018, two suspects are expected to appear in the Christiana and Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Courts for two separate murder charges.

Their court appearances emanate from incidents in which they allegedly stabbed and killed two victims aged 39 and 45 on Friday, 30 March 2018.

In the first incident in Wolmaransstad, a 31 year old suspect was arrested for allegedly stabbing her 45 year old boyfriend to death with a knife in his back. Allegedly, the couple were at their residential place when the boyfriend assaulted the girlfriend after an argument that ensued between them.

The girlfriend took out a knife from the drawer and stabbed her boyfriend. The latter was certified dead on the scene. The police were called and the girlfriend was arrested and charged with murder.

In another incident at Utlwanang location, Christiana, a 39 year old man was apprehended after he allegedly assaulted and stabbed a 49 year-old man to death.

According to information available at this stage, reports suggest that the two men were drinking at a local pub when an argument ensued. The 39 year old man allegedly took an empty beer bottle and hit the 49 year old one on his face. The man then took out a knife and stabbed the victim on his upper body.

The victim went outside the pub where he fell on the ground and died on the scene.

The suspect handed himself over to the police and he was charged with murder.
