Two Lesotho nationals appeared before the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.
Thato Masebethi, 22, and Khauhelo Mohapi, 21, were arrested after police allegedly found them in possession of 19 pigs.
The case was postponed to 23 June 2026 for further investigation. Both accused were remanded in custody.
According to police, on Sunday, 17 May 2026, at approximately 02:00, officers received information about two men seen with pigs near Shaft Number 3 in the Stilfontein area. Police proceeded to the location and upon arrival, the suspects were allegedly found in possession of the pigs. They were arrested when they could not account for the animals.
Further investigation linked the suspects to a stock theft case reported earlier in Stilfontein. The livestock was positively identified by the rightful owner.
