The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentences handed down by the Klerksdorp Regional Court on 17 August 2017.

Joseph Dlomo (19), and Johannes Moabi (21), were each sentenced to 22 years imprisonment for raping a 27 year old woman 29 December 2013.

The woman was on her way home when approached by the two accused who dragged her to a nearby house, threatened her with a knife and raped her. The accused also robbed the woman of her money and a cell phone.

The matter was reported to the police in Kanana and through a comprehensive investigation both the accused were traced and arrested.
