A 27 year old accused, Lerato Mmusi Moratara will serve 12 years in jail. This is after the Regional Court in Mmabatho sentenced him on Wednesday, 17 January 2018 for murder.

The sentencing of the accused follows an incident in which he stabbed a man with a knife on the chest after they had a quarrel on Sunday, 30 June 2013 at the sports grounds in Motsoseng village near Mahikeng.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General, Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentence and reiterated that the sentence will serve a clear message to other criminals that crime does not pay and again that it doesn’t matter how long the case is being investigated, the perpetrators will ultimately be brought to book.
