Three suspects, aged 24, 29 and 37, were arrested on charges of StockTheft by the Provincial Detectives, Crime Intelligence and the Stock Theft Unit close to Zeerust, North West.

On 8 November 2018 an intelligence driven operation was conducted where three suspects were arrested after they allegedly stole 27 sheep worth R75 000-00. The three accused allegedly failed to account for the 27 sheep. The sheep were seized and handed back to the lawful owner after positive identification.

The three suspects are expected to appear in the Zeerust Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 12 November 2018.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, commended the members and the community for their cooperation that led to this success. She said that brand marking of animals ensured the positive identification by the owner of the sheep and motivated farmers to comply with the Animal Identification Act, 2002 (Act 6 of 2002).
