Police in Potchefstroom in collaboration with a private security company nabbed three male suspects in the act of committing armed robbery at about 21:00 on Wednesday, 29 May 2019 in Bult, Potchefstroom.
According to information available at this stage, Visible Policing task team members were on patrol duty when they saw four suspects that were about to rob two female students. A chase ensued after the suspects fled the scene upon realising that the police saw them. The police together with a private security company officers managed to arrest three suspects while the fourth one fled in a vehicle evaded the arrest.
A firearm which was apparently used in the commission of the crime was found on the scene.
Preliminary investigation into the matter linked the suspects with another robbery wherein two other ladies were robbed of their cell phones in the same area.
All three suspects aged between 24 and 33 are expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 3 June 2019, on charges of armed robbery, attempted robbery and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a licence.
