Cindy Nidene Roos (39), a police Sergeant, was on Friday, 22 May 2020, released on R1000-00 bail upon appearance in the Rustenburg Magistrate’s Court for theft and defeating the ends of justice. She will reappear on Monday, 31 August 2020.

Roos’ court appearance follows her apprehension on Wednesday, 20 May 2020, in Rustenburg for theft of cigarettes worth R6000-00. According to information received, Roos booked out the cigarettes from the Rustenburg police station Exhibit Store on Friday, 8 May 2020 under the pretext of dispatching them to forensic laboratory. The stolen cigarettes were recovered during the arrest.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena condemned the members’ unbecoming conduct which he said it cannot be tolerated within our ranks. He commended the Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit (ACIU) for their commitment in exposing our own members who fail to abide by the organisational Code of Conduct.
