On Friday, 20 July 2018, police in Christiana apprehended a 40 year old suspect after two firearms were found in his possession.
The suspect was arrested after the police who acted on a tip off, searched passengers of a taxi that was travelling from Taung to Christiana. During the search, one of the passengers was found in possession of two firearms. It was in the same taxi that a suspected undocumented man, aged 28 was taken in for processing.
The illegal possession of firearms suspect is expected to appear in the Bloemhof Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 July 2018.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane appreciated members of the community for their cooperation that led to the arrest of the suspect and seizing of the firearms.
