On Monday, 3 June 2019, four accused; Dercia Arlindo Zango (32), Aurelio Francisco Mucavele (32), Rogers Bule (37) and Thokozani Dazela (36) will reappear in the Ganyesa Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy to commit crime and illegal possession of firearm.

Aurelio Francisco Mucavele and Rogers Bule will also face an additional charge of contravening Section 41 of Immigration Act, 2002 (Act No. 13 of 2002). That was after they failed to produce documents to verify if they are entitled to be in the country.

All four accused made a first appearance in the court on Tuesday, 28 May 2019 following their arrest on Saturday, 25 May 2019, on a farm in Mokopong. It is alleged that game rangers were on the farm when they saw a Toyota Double Cab offloading people next to the road. The vehicle allegedly drove off when the rangers approached it.

A car chase ensued after the police and farmers were alerted about the vehicle. During the chase, a rifle was allegedly thrown out of the accused’s vehicle. The vehicle was ultimately stopped and items such as binoculars, a small grinder and a knife were found inside when the police conducted a search.

The police also seized eight cell phones that were found in possession of the accused.
