Suspect arrested in Ikageng for alleged murder

Police in Ikageng apprehended a 26-year-old man in connection with alleged murder on Sunday, 23 September 2018, after a 36 year old victim was killed in Extension 11 in Ikageng outside Potchefstroom.

The suspect’s apprehension came after a fight ensued between the suspect and the victim at a local shebeen.

According to information received, the suspect allegedly got angry when he saw the suspect talking with his sister. It is alleged that the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim twice in the upper body. The victim was transported to Potchefstroom Hospital, where he died.

The suspect was arrested at his house in Extension 11, Ikageng, and charged with murder. The 26 year old suspect is expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 26 September 2018.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, commended Ikageng Detectives for their swift response that led to the arrest of the suspect.
