In a bid to curb serious trio and property related crimes, police in Potchefstroom in cooperation with a member of the community apprehended a 48 year old suspect in Vyfhoek in the early hours of 19 October 2017.

The suspect was arrested following an incident in which three males were found exiting a house which was broken into.

According to information available at this stage, the owner of the small holding heard a sound of a breaking glass at a neighboring house and went to investigate.

Upon investigation, the suspects exited the house with objects they had in their possession. It was during the confrontation that shots were fired which wounded one of the suspects.

The other two suspects fled the scene, while the wounded one got medical treatment on the scene and was taken to hospital where he was admitted under police guard.

The police recovered on the scene some of the properties that were stolen from the house.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on for charges of burglary residential as soon as he is released from hospital.
