NORTH WEST — Members of the Pudimoe SAPS have intercepted a substantial quantity of suspected stolen meat during a high-density crime operation in the North West province, resulting in the immediate arrest of a 37-year-old man.
The interception took place on the evening of Tuesday, 30 June 2026. Operating a vehicle checkpoint on the N18 road near Dry Harts Village, officers flagged down a blue Toyota Conquest at approximately 23:00. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a massive amount of cow meat hidden beneath a blanket in the boot.
Following the discovery, police took the 37-year-old male into custody. He has been formally charged with the possession of suspected stolen property and is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
Meanwhile, detectives have launched a broader investigation to trace the exact origin of the recovered meat. Authorities are also working to determine if the arrested individual is connected to a wider syndicate or other unresolved stock theft cases in the province.
