Robbers arrested after high speed crash, Wolmaransstad

Police in Wolmaransstad working together with members of the community arrested two suspects, aged 27 and 38, on Monday, 11 June 2018, for business robbery.

The suspects were arrested following an incident in which a 27 year old man was robbed while inside his tuck shop. The suspects allegedly entered the shop and pretended to be customers. One of them allegedly went over to the counter and threatened the victim with a knife. He then robbed him of cash and drove off together with his accomplice in a white Toyota Corolla.

The incident was reported to the police who were in patrol just after it had occurred. A car chase ensued between the police and the suspects’ vehicle which crashed into a tree in Tswelelang location.

The pair was arrested on the spot and the vehicle was seized.

They are expected to appear in the Wolmaransstad Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 13 June 2018.
