Young father from Brits was killed for cellphones and baby clothes after “spiking” incident on the N4 highway. Juandre Kidson (29), was shot and killed in front of his wife and one year old daughter on Saturday 7 May 2022 when he was busy changing the wheel of his car after driving over stones which were deliberately packed in the road.
The incident happened on the N4 highway near the R512 Randburg turnoff at around 20:00.
Hours earlier another man was murdered under similar circumstances on the same road.
A Police spokesperson has confirmed that Juandre was busy changing the wheel of his car when he was attacked by three black men who shot him in his head. Juandre died on the scene.
Juandre’s wife, Johanette and his one year old daughter were in the car at that time. The attackers also shot Johanette in her shoulder. The couple’s daughter was not injured.
Johanette was later taken to a hospital. The couple was on the way from Rustenburg to their home in Brits. Only small items like cellphones, baby clothes and milk were stolen.
A Police spokesperson has confirmed that another still unknown man was also murdered on the same road when he stopped after driving over stones which were packed in the road. The two incidents happened hours apart. The second incident happened at the M17 Ga-Rankuwa off ramp from the N4.
No arrest has been made in either incident.
People are reminded not to stop when their vehicle’s tyres become flat in these “spiking” incidents but to rather drive on with flat tyres to a safer spot because that will save your life in all probability.
