A report was received regarding the theft of three Ford Rangers from a dealership in Zeerust, North West, with intelligence indicating that the stolen vehicles were en route to the West Rand.
A multi-agency operation was launched, with teams from Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, SAPS West Rand RR, SAPS Carletonville K9, SAPS Rustenburg Highway Patrol, North West Crime Intelligence, BSO Tactical, Tracker SA, Cartrack, BAS Specialized Operations, Reflex Secure, and BCI Security joining forces.
Upon receiving confirmed route details, the Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing assisted in locating the stolen vehicles.
One of the vehicles was spotted heading toward Krugersdorp by SAPS, resulting in a high-speed chase. The suspects lost control of the vehicle, causing an accident.
The second and third vehicles were picked up by Tracker SA on their way to the West Rand. The suspects abandoned the vehicles and fled into a nearby field. With aerial assistance from the GTP Airwing and rapid ground response by BCI Security
Operations Managers, two suspects were apprehended and detained by Tracker SA and BAS Specialized Operations.
The third stolen vehicle was recovered in the North West, where the remaining suspects were also apprehended.
