A 49 year old accused appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on five counts of Rape and another seven counts of Sexual Assault.
The accused’s court appearance came after he handed himself over to the police. That was after charges were laid against him in January and February 2018 on allegations of rape and sexual assault that occurred between 2015 and 2017.
It was after the first incident was reported that seven other victims came forward and opened cases against the accused. The latter has been remanded in custody and will appear in court on 6 March 2018 for a bail application.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane urged members of the community to work together with the police to ensure that justice is served.
