Police arrest man for hijacking truck in North West

A 26-year-old man was arrested for alleged truck hijacking in Klipgat, North West police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the man from Zimbabwe was arrested on Tuesday, near Jakkalasdans in Klipgat.

“It is alleged that the driver was waiting for the truck to load, when he was approached by four suspects, two of them armed with firearms. They allegedly covered the driver and his colleague with a cloth on their faces and tied them with a rope.

“According to information, the suspects fled the scene with the truck, but the driver of the truck noticed later that his colleague was missing.

“He alerted the police who acted swiftly and conducted a search that led to discovery of the truck from the driver’s colleague. The latter was arrested and he is expected to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court soon.”
