SAPS efforts towards the fight against drug peddling continue to yield positive results.

Police members conducting crime prevention patrols in Klerksdorp on Monday, 8 March 2021, arrested a 41-year-old suspect, Isaac Caukwudi Nwokola for allegedly dealing in drugs.

The suspect was arrested at about 23:50 by members of Public Order Policing in Coetzee Street in Pienaarsdorp, Klerksdorp. A random stop and search was conducted, when the members found tablets, suspected to be Mandrax, packets containing suspected crystal meth, CAT and sealed syringes to an estimated street value of R20 000-00.

The suspect was immediately arrested and he appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 9 March 2021 on charges of dealing in drugs. He was remanded in custody until his second court appearance on Tuesday, 16 March 2021.

Furthermore between Thursday, 4 March 2021 to Saturday, 6 March 2021, several intelligence led operations were conducted by various K9 Units in the Province.

In Coligny and Lichtenburg, 21 suspects, aged between 21 and 56 were arrested. 19 Suspects were arrested for being in possession of drugs, whilst two suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs. Dagga to the estimated street value of R26 211-00, Crystal Meth to the estimated street value of R7650-00 and Nyaope valued at R400-00 were seized.

The suspects already appeared in the Lichtenburg- and Coligny Magistrates’ Courts.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, congratulated the police members for their efforts that will ensure that the community are and feel safe.
