Detectives in the province nabbed close to 400 suspects during Operation Safer Festive Season suspect raiding in various parts of the province between Tuesday, 22 and Wednesday, 23 December 2020.

Of the arrested suspects, 81 were arrested in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, 79 in the Bojanala sub district 2 (Rustenburg), 76 in the Bojanala sub district 1 (Brits), 73 in Ngaka Modiri Molema district and 40 in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompatu district.

Out of these arrests, 84 were for crimes against women and children while 46 arrests were affected by Specialised Units that included the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS), Organised Crime and Anti-Gang, Stock Theft and Vehicle Crime Investigation.

Two rifles, one 9mm pistol with their magazines and ammunition were recovered during the operations.

The suspects are expected to appear in various courts within the province.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended the members throughout the province for their commitment of ensuring the safety and security of the community within the province by putting criminals behind bars.
