Police in the clusters of Brits and Mahikeng arrested 71 suspects for various offences during operations that were conducted on Friday, 17 August 2018.

The suspects include 20 that were arrested for drug related crimes such as possession of drugs and cultivation of dagga. Another suspect was held for possession of a dangerous weapon and two for liquor related offences.

The other suspect was charged for contravention of Foodstuff, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act 54 of 1972. That was after he was found in possession of expired goods.

The other suspects were arrested as follows: One for possession of suspected stolen property, one for copper cable theft, three for assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).

In Brits, 43 undocumented foreign nationals were taken in for processing.

The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, commended the police at the two clusters for working hard to ensure that criminals are brought to book.
