The 70 year old Job Mokgoro was appointed by the ANC’s work committee as the new premier in North West.
This follows after serious internal struggles over who should fill the post and his appointment is seen as a compromise between Supra Mahumapelo’s supporters and the SACP, Cosatu and Sanco supporters on the other.
Job’s “job” will be significantly complicated by all the fraud and factions in the province.
As there is no vacancy in the legislature, Supra Mahumapelo is expected to resign from the legislature.
Political observers believe this is the way Cyril Ramaphosa will operate, with compromises.
There is no unity in the ANC and both wings need to be appeased with regard decisions, which means that his hands are tied to really get the country back on track.
