Police in Mahikeng arrested a 20-year-old suspect for alleged rape of a 12-year-old minor.
The suspect’s arrest follows an incident in which he allegedly raped the minor on 01 June 2017 at Signal Hill village, Mahikeng. According to information available at this stage, the suspect called the minor who was on her way home from school and took her to the bushes near an old and vacant house where he allegedly raped her. The minor reported the incident to one of her teachers who informed the police. A case of rape was then opened and following intensive investigation, the suspect who stays not far from the victim’s place, was subsequently arrested.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrates’ Court on 12 June 2017.
