It is with great sadness that the Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, learnt of the alleged murder of a 55-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Lekone Morris Mohajane who was the Detective Branch Commander at Mooinooi police station.

He was allegedly shot and killed during a hijacking incident over the weekend at his house in Hammanskraal, Gauteng Province.

The Provincial Commissioner visited the Mohajane family on Monday, 5 June 2023, and on behalf of the provincial management, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the Colonel, who was a seasoned police officer with 33 years of loyal service.

He said that the passing on of the selfless and dedicated Lt Col Mohajane came at the crucial time of intensifying the fight against criminality, which he was playing a crucial role.

Lieutenant General Kwena condemned the killing of police officers, which he said is tantamount to undermining the authority of the state and taking away one of the much needed resources from the community, thus affecting service delivery.

He indicated that resources have been mobilised to ensure that those who are behind this evil deed, are brought to book to face the full might of the law.
