Mmabatho Police apprehended a 25-year-old suspect for allegedly stabbing and killing a 24-year-old man on Thursday, 30 December 2021.

According to information available at this stage, four friends who are all from Itsoseng, were visiting their friend (the suspect) in Unit 12, Mmabatho.

Allegations further state that after, an altercation ensued over utilisation of a toilet, the suspect allegedly went to the kitchen where he got a knife.

He went back to the toilet where he allegedly forced open the door and stabbed the victim on his upper body. The victim was transported to a clinic at Unit 9, Mmabatho, but was certified dead on arrival.

Police were subsequently called and the suspect was arrested and charged with murder.

Didintle Memela, aged 25, appeared in the Molopo Magistrates’ Court in Mmabatho on Friday, 31 December 2021. He is expected to reappear at the same court on Friday, 7 January 2022, for bail application.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the Mmabatho Detectives for their swift response that resulted in the arrest.
